Package licensing

A clear understanding of the transport licensing and regulatory landscape.

The unique experience of NTS extends to a clear understanding of domestic and international nuclear transport regulations and licensing.

Over 40 years of liaising with domestic and overseas Competent Authorities gives our customers unique insight into the regulatory landscape.

Regulatory knowledge

Our customers value the depth and breadth of our regulatory experience. Over the years, our transport team has navigated an increasingly mature regulatory framework, both through the UK regulator and through our lead role in the World Nuclear Transport Institute. In addition, we actively contribute to the formation and maintenance of the international nuclear transport guidelines as they evolve within the IAEA.

With such insight, we can support our customers with their transport regulatory needs in a way that guarantees compliance with both the letter and the spirit of the IAEA guidelines. Equally, our knowledge also enables us to improve efficiencies and deliver value for money.

A proven track record of manufacturing and testing to IAEA standards helps NTS advise customers fully on their individual package licensing needs.

Package design flexibility

At NTS, we work with our customers to build a clear picture of their individual nuclear transport needs – advising them on how to ensure compliance.

By contributing to the ongoing revision and improvement of IAEA nuclear transport regulations, we’re able to apply that insight for the benefit of our customers.

We use our experience of working with customers, competent authorities and stakeholders to improve the efficiency of any nuclear transport and ensure its compliance.

Special Arrangement Application – demonstrating equivalent safety

We made a successful application to the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR for a “Special Arrangement Approval” to transport a package that had not been conclusively proven to comply with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) thermal test.
